The transformation of public spaces into places of commerce can pose challenges for the fulfilment of ordinary citizens. These spaces, which should be accessible to all for relaxation, entertainment and gathering, can be restricted by over-marketing. When public spaces are invaded by commercial activities, ordinary citizens can feel a sense of insecurity and loss of privacy in places that should be conducive to conviviality and relaxation.

The proliferation of shops in public spaces can also lead to increased noise, traffic, and congestion, disrupting the peace and well-being of local residents. In addition, the space available for social and leisure activities for residents is often reduced, creating an atmosphere that is less conducive to individual and community development.

Community shared spaces in Mali play a crucial role in preserving traditions, providing mutual support, and strengthening social ties within the various communities, thereby contributing to social development and cohesion.
