The project pushes the boundary of random street photographing to conscious interrogation of people and spaces in pedestrian lanes and bridges across Lagos. I randomly approached and engaged in conversation with individuals who are the emphasis of People and Spaces. Though this engagement imposes some challenges, as I encountered refusal most of the time, the aim was to create portraits against the backdrop of personal life experiences. By interrogating personal stories, People and Spaces hopes to lift the cloak of anonymity off individuals who for the most part are categorized as poor and marginalized.
