Phalo Ndonga

BIOGRAPHY

Phalo Ndonga is a 21 year-old, photography based artist. He was born in Eastern Cape and grew up in a small town called Secunda in Mpumalanga.

His work revolves primarily around feminism, fashion and “black aesthetics”. He uses photography as a medium to pay homage to the black women who raised him. His love for photography started when he was 14 years-old after he realised that he wished to capture all the images on their family photo album.

In 2019 he attended Oaksfield College in Pretoria to do a Foundation Photography Course. There he acquired technical skills and later joined The Market Photo Workshop in Newtown to study the Advance Programme in Photography.

Phalo draws inspiration from Deana Lawson, Jodi Bieber and Imraan Christian. He always says “Life with images is beautiful but images that show life are far reaching”.
