Kamohelo Mahlatsi
BIOGRAPHY
Kamohelo Mahlatsi was born on the 2nd of August 2000 and is a self-taught photographer from Katlehong. He has been photographing since 2016.
Kamohelo’s work is highly inspired by the black consciousness movement of the late anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko. His on-going photo series titled ''The Envisioned Self'' aims to infuse black pride amongst black people through creating powerful imagery that solely features black individuals as his primary subject. His most recent work titled ''uSpopo no' Groovy: (The African Adam and Eve)'' was released on the 11th of January 2020 and has been met with a positive reaction on social media.
In October of 2019 Kamohelo won first place at the Excellence In Education Awards by ThinkAhead for the #mySA Photography category. He has since been interviewed by some of South Africa’s esteemed media publications such as SABC 2’s Morning Live, Good Things Guy, CAPS Radio and Germiston City News.
