About Leagacy Project
The Legacy Project will support and mentor 18 aspiring young photographers from communities across the 9 provinces of South Africa over the course of a year
The participants will be expected to spend some time bi-monthly at the Market Photo Workshop participating in structured workshops where they will learn practical photographic skills as well as creative and critical thinking. The other time will be spent in their home provinces applying what they have learned by means of photographic practice within these communities.
The aim and intention of this Legacy Project is to arrive at the production of publications which link to the understanding of structural perspectives around thematic areas of (1) Religion; (2) ‘Hood’ – livelihood, childhood, motherhood fatherhood, and other topical issues around community challenges such as teenage pregnancy, GBV, etc.; (3) Education and (4) Landscape – both literally and figuratively which talks to the ecosystems around communities and culture.
