Chama Mwanga

BIOGRAPHY

Chama Mwanga is a visual artist, born in Lesotho and raised in Durban, South Africa. Chama is the second born of three children in his family which are of Tanzania and Nigeria descent. After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of KwaZulu Natal, he decided to embark on a journey to becoming a visual storyteller. Chama spent the first half of 2018 in Tanzania, it is here where he truly decided that visual storytelling is a passion he wanted to learn and grow in. Chama applied to The Market Photo Workshop in Johannesburg South Africa, where he has completed his Advance Programme in Photography (2019). Chama has worked with various organizations that deal with encouraging Youth Entrepreneurship. These organizations include Livecalm Africa, YEEP Africa, Bloom&Stone and KanjiSanaa. Chama has set goals for himself to travel across the continent setting up workshops with NGO’s and Government programs to facilitate skills exchanges and networking opportunities for youth across the African continent. His focus is on learning more about how to sustain livelihoods with entrepreneurial skills within cultural and creative industries.
