Hoek Swaratlhe
BIOGRAPHY
Hoek Swaratlhe is a Soweto based photographer. His introduction to photography was through his first camera phone in 2008. His interest in people led him to street photography and eventually, studio photography. He worked with Basement in the Arts, a Soweto based magazine in 2014 and was a resident in the Kopanong Art Studio Residency Programme at the Pretoria Arts Museum from 2015, for a two year period. In 2018 he enrolled in the Market Photo Workshop’s Advanced Programme in Photography to gain further skills and qualification in photography. Currently, his work ranges from commercial, to conceptual, to contemporary, all with the interaction between people at the core.
